WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Stony Brook softball team finished up play at the Buff and Blue Challenge on Sunday with its fourth straight win, taking down Oakland by a score of 5-3.

"We showed a lot of grit in winning this game and continue to play with composure, determination, and energy. Our approach has been excellent and it is great to see our progress. It was a very successful weekend and we look to keep building."
GAME 1: STONY BROOK 5, OAKLAND 3
- The Golden Grizzlies got on the board first in the bottom of the first after a leadoff single came around to score on an RBI single, making it 1-0.
- The Seawolves tied the game up at 1-1 in the top of the second after Lindsey Osmer (Martinez, Calif.) and Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.) walked, and advanced to second and third on a wild pitch, Jordyn Nowakowski (San Diego, Calif.) brought home Osmer on a sac fly.
- Stony Brook took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third after Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) led off with a bunt single, advanced to second after Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) walked, and Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) brought home Hering on an RBI single.
- Oakland took the lead back in the bottom of the third after a leadoff single came around to score on a RBI double, and then the double came around to score on another RBI double making it 3-2.
- The Seawolves tied the game up at 3-3 in the top of the fifth after Corr singled and came around to score on an RBI single by Shelbi Denman (Las Vegas, Nev.).
- Stony Brook then took a 5-3 lead after Osmer reached first on an error continuing the inning, and then Craig drove in Denman and Osmer on a big two-run double.
NOTES
- Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) started in the circle for the Seawolves, and went 2.2 innings giving up three runs.
- Denman relieved Pechin in the circle and went 4.1 innings, earning her second win of the season.
- Corr tallied hits in all three of her at bats in the game.
- Stony Brook ended the Buff and Blue Challenge with a 4-1 record.
- The Seawolves are on a four-game winning streak.
- Osmer leads the team with a .379 batting average after strong performances at the plate this weekend.

Stony Brook will begin a week that consists of eight games, starting with its home opener on Tuesday against Fordham at 1 pm.
