Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Stony Brook Unable to Get Past Marist

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team dropped the opening game of a three-game home stand on Saturday afternoon to visiting Marist, 10-5, at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.

Junior attacker Tom Haun's (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) collected three points with a goal and a pair of assists and junior A/M Chris Pickel Jr. (Bayport, N.Y.) tallied two goals for the Seawolves (2-2), but it wasn't enough to get past the Red Foxes (2-2).

QUOTING THE SEAWOLVES
Head Coach Jim Nagle
"This was obviously a disappointing result today. The season is tough and everybody is good. There is a ton of parody in college men's lacrosse. We still have a tremendous amount of faith for the guys on our team and their mission to keep getting better."

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The score was knotted at 2-2 after the first 15 minutes of play and tied 3-3 at the half.
  • Marist posted five goals in the third quarter that proved to be the difference.
NOTES
  • Junior attacker Tom Haun netted his 55th career goals on Saturday with his 10th goal of the season.
  • Haun added his 30th and 31st career assists in the loss.
  • Sophomore midfielder Mike McCannell (Orangeville, Ontario) scored his third goal of the season and the 18th of his career on Saturday.
  • Junior A/M Chris Pickel Jr. tallied his second multi-goal game of the season and eighth of his career with a pair of goals on Saturday.
  • Junior midfielder Harrison Matsuoka (Calgary, Alberta) netted his first goal of the season and second of his career on Saturday.

Stony Brook continues the home stand when they welcome Sacred Heart to LaValle Stadium on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. faceoff.
