WEST HARTFORD, CONN.- The Stony Brook softball team split a doubleheader with Hartford on Saturday. The team dropped game one by a score of 4-1, but blanked the Hawks 9-0 in game two.
Shelbi Denman (Las Vegas, Nev.) was stellar in the circle in game two, going all six innings in the circle, not giving up any runs. Denman struck out six, and earned her fourth victory of the season.
Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) had a strong day at the plate picking up two hits in game one, and three hits and three RBIs in game two.

GAME 1: HARTFORD 4, STONY BROOK 1
- Stony Brook got its lone run in the top of the first after Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) reached on a fielder's choice and stole second, she scored on an error by the right fielder making it 1-0.
- Hartford tied the game up at one in the bottom of the fourth after a leadoff double came around to score on an error.
- The Hawks took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth after they loaded the bases, and a hit by pitch brought in a run.
- Hartford scored a pair in the bottom of the sixth after the team loaded the bases and brought in a run on a sac fly making it 3-1.
- The Hawks scored its last run in the sixth on an error making it 4-1.
NOTES
- Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) went all six in the circle only giving up two earned runs, but took the loss. Rahrich is now 6-6 on the season.
- The Seawolves only had four hits in the defeat, and Rivera had two of them.
GAME 2: STONY BROOK 9, HARTFORD 0 (SIX INN.)
- After the game one loss, the Seawolves got off to a quick start in the top of the first scoring three runs. After Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) led off with a single and Corr doubled, Hering scored the first run of the game after Rahrich reached on an error.
- Corr came around to score on an error by the second baseman making it 2-0.
- The inning continued after Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.) walked, Jordyn Nowakowski (San Diego, Calif.) brought her home on a RBI double making it 3-0.
- The Seawolves scored a pair in the top of the second after Ally Dabroski (Cedar Grove, NJ.) walked and advanced to second on a sac bunt by Alina Lance (New Athens, Ill.), Hering brought her home on a RBI double making it 4-0.
- Rivera brought home Hering later in the inning on a single making it 5-0.
- Stony Brook tacked on a run in the top of the fourth after Corr walked, Rivera brought her home on a RBI single making it 6-0.
- The Seawolves closed their scoring with a three-run top of the sixth. After Corr walked and Rahrich singled, Rivera drove in Corr on a RBI single making it 7-0.
- After Rahrich and Rivera moved to second and third on a wild pitch, Nowakowski brought home Rahrich on a sac fly making it 8-0.
- Stony Brook got its last run of the day in the inning after Nicole McCarvill (Clifton Park, N.Y.) brought home Rivera on a RBI single making it 9-0.
NOTES
- Denman went all six innings in the circle, giving up no runs.
- Denman is now 4-2 on the season.
- Rivera tallied three hits with three RBIs in the victory.
- Hering, Nowakowski, and McCarvill all tallied two hits.
- With the split of the doubleheader, the Seawolves are 1-1 in conference play.
