MIAMI, FLA.- The Stony Brook softball team split day two of the FAU/FIU Tournament on Saturday taking down Florida A&M 11-1, and then fell to Florida International 3-0.
 
COACH BRYANT'S THOUGHTS
"We played our best softball of the young season today, and showed a lot of grit after a late night of games on Friday. Our defense and pitching were much improved in today's games and we were very productive offensively in game one."
 
GAME 1: STONY BROOK 11, FLORIDA A&M 1
	- The Seawolves got on the board in the top of the first after Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) walked to lead off the inning and Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) drove her in with an RBI single.
 
	- Florida A&M got their lone run of the game after a leadoff single in the bottom of the first came around to score on a sac fly.
 
	- Stony Brook had a six-run inning in the top of the third that started after Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) doubled and Rahrich singled putting two on. Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) walked to load the bases and the Rattlers proceeded to walk Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.) to bring in a run making it 2-1.
 
	- The Seawolves made it 3-1 after Rahrich scored on a passed ball.
 
	- The scoring for the Seawolves continued after Jordyn Nowakowski (San Diego, Calif.) walked to load the bases again setting up Alina Lance (New Athens, Ill.) for a grand slam making it 7-1.
 
	- Stony Brook added a run in the top of the eighth after Corr led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and then was brought home on a RBI single by Lindsey Osmer (Martinez, Calif.).
 
	- The Seawolves tacked on three runs in the top of the sixth that started with Rahrich leading off with a single and Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) hit a two-run homer making it 10-1.
 
	- Stony Brook closed out their scoring when Osmer was brought home on an error making it 11-1.
 
NOTES VS. FLORIDA A&M
	- Pechin pitched for the Seawolves and went all six innings only giving up the one run.
 
	- Rahrich recorded three hits, and Corr and Osmer had two hits in the victory.
 
 
GAME 2: FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL 3, STONY BROOK 0 
	- FIU got on the board in the bottom of the second on a home run by Rebecca Koskey making it 1-0.
 
	- The Panthers added two in the bottom of the fifth to complete their scoring after a leadoff double came around to score making it 2-0 and then 3-0 when a run came in on a fielder's choice.
 
	- The Seawolves had a chance in the top of the sixth to tie the game after a walk by Hering and Corr reaching on an error, but neither came around to score.
 
NOTES VS. FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
	- Rahrich pitched all six innings for the Seawolves and had her best start of the season only giving up three earned runs.
 
	- Osmer had two of the three hits for the Seawolves in the game.
 
 
ON DECK
Stony Brook will take on North Dakota State on Sunday at 9 am to close out the tournament.
