Stony Brook Jumps to Early Advantage in Midweek Win

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – It was a fast start that helped the Stony Brook baseball team to its second midweek win in as many afternoons as the team scored the game's first seven runs en route to a 9-3 win on the road Wednesday.

The Seawolves plated four in the second, highlighted by a two-run double by junior Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) to put Stony Brook ahead for good. The top three in the order each drove in a run in the fourth and the Seawolves were able to secure the needed advantage early.

SENK'S REACTION
"Another solid start today set the tone as well as putting together a big four run inning early in the game. Hopefully this solid play over the last two days will continue this upcoming weekend at Binghamton"

  • Freshman Johnny Decker (Coeymans Hollow, N.Y.) crossed the plate on a throwing error to start the scoring in the second.
  • After Grande's two-run double, sophomore John Tuccillo (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) singled up the middle to score Grande.
