BETHLEHEM, PA. – The Stony Brook softball team split a doubleheader with Lehigh on Saturday. The team dropped game one by a score of 2-1, but took game two 3-0.
Shelbi Denman (Las Vegas, Nev.) had a strong performance in the circle in game two, giving up no runs while striking out three.
Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) paced the offense in the game two win with a big two-run single in the fifth to extend the lead to three.

GAME 1: LEHIGH 2, STONY BROOK 1
- The Seawolves scored their lone run in the top of the first. After Hering singled, and Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) reached on an error advancing Hering to third, Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) brought home Hering on a groundout making it 1-0.
- Lehigh scored both their runs in the bottom of the fourth. A two-run double scored a batter reaching on an error, and another on a fielder's choice making it 2-1.
NOTES
- Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) went all six innings in the circle, giving up no earned runs.
- Rahrich is now 10-11 on the season.
- The Seawolves only tallied two hits in the defeat, which came from Hering and Rivera.
GAME 2: STONY BROOK 3, LEHIGH 0
- The Seawolves got on the board first in the top of the fourth. After Corr walked, Rahrich brought her home on a RBI double making it 1-0.
- Stony Brook completed its scoring with a pair in the top of the fifth. After Jordyn Nowakowski (San Diego, Calif.) advanced to third after she doubled and Ally Dabroski (Cedar Grove, N.J.) reached and stole second after being hit by a pitch, Hering brought them both home on a RBI single making it 3-0.
NOTES
- Denman went all seven innings in the circle, earning her ninth victory of the season.
- Denman is now 9-3 on the season.
- Corr has reached base safely in 24 straight games.
ON DECK
The Seawolves will resume conference play on Wednesday, when they head to UMBC for a single game at 1 pm.
