STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The streak has grown to 27 games for senior
Brandon Alamo (Artesia, Calif.) reaching base but the Stony Brook baseball team fell 9-1 to Fairfield on Wednesday afternoon at Joe Nathan Field.
Alamo singled to lead off the second inning, extending the stretch that dates back to a February 24 contest with Southeastern Louisiana, accumulating one of five the Seawolves had on the afternoon.
GAME SUMMARY
- A pair of RBI singles gave Fairfield a 2-0 lead through five, with one coming in the first and the other in the fifth.
- Five RBI hits in the seventh allowed the Stags to take control, with a pair of RBI singles and then a run-scoring double, triple and home run to give the visitors a 9-0 lead heading to stretch time.
- Stony Brook got on the board in the ninth when senior Michael Russell (Staten Island, N.Y.) singled and then scored on freshman Cole Durkan's (Jefferson, Mass.) double to the wall in right-center.
STATS AND NOTES
- Redshirt-junior Aaron Glickstein (Dix Hills, N.Y.) started the day going three innings, allowing one earned on three hits while recording one strikeout.
- Durkan drove in his fifth run of the season, while Russell scored his 11th.
- Alamo has recorded hits in 23 of the last 27 games.
