STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team dropped its America East Semifinal matchup with UMBC, 14-8 on Thursday night from LaValle Stadium.
With the loss, the Seawolves' season comes to a close.
Quoting head coach Jim Nagle
"It was a great season for our guys, I really love our team and the commitment and effort that they gave. They were a real pleasure to coach and I told them that. Obviously this is really disappointing, but we had some good accomplishments this year and I'm proud of this team."
Highlights
- UMBC scored the first three goals of the game before junior Tom Haun (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) scored to trim the deficit to 3-1.
- The Retrievers scored all five goals in the second quarter and led 8-1 at the half.
- After senior Ryland Rees (P. Coquitlam, B.C.) opened the scoring in the second half, UMBC scored three straight to extend its lead to 11-2.
- Stony Brook scored the game's last four goals and ultimately fell, 14-8.

- Haun had a hat trick for the seventh time this year and the third time in the last four games.
- Freshman Austin Deskewicz (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) stayed hot at the X, winning seven of his 11 face offs.Â
