Rahrich and Corr Break Single Season Records in Win at Maine

ORONO, ME.- Led by home runs from Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) and Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.), the Stony Brook softball team took game one of the series against Maine on Friday. The Seawolves took down the Black Bears by a score of 7-3. 
 
Rahrich tallied three RBIs in the game, and surpassed Bria Green (2015) for the top spot in the program record book for most in a single season with 55.   
 
Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) scored two runs in the game, and is now #1 in the program record book in runs scored (single season) with 48 ahead of Stephanie DiBiase with 47 in 2003.

"We did well with all three parts of our game today and kept the momentum with our consistent scoring. With two games left in this series, we look to build off today and come out strong tomorrow."
 
SCORING SUMMARY
  • The Seawolves scored a pair in the top of the first. After Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) walked and Corr singled, Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.), brought home Hering on a groundout making it 1-0.
  • Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) then brought home Corr on a RBI single making it 2-0.
  • Stony Brook made it 3-0 in the top of the second on a leadoff home run by Craig. 
  • The Seawolves made it 5-0 in the top of the third after Corr reached on an error, Rahrich brought her home on a home run. 
  • Stony Brook added a run in the top of the fourth. After Alina Lance (New Athens, Ill.) reached on a fielders choice and Hering singled, Rahrich brought home Lance on a RBI single making it 6-0.
  • Craig hit her second home run of the game in the top of the fifth making it 7-0.
  • Maine tacked on runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh, but scored nothing further making it a 7-3 final.
 
NOTES
  • Rahrich went all seven innings in the circle, earning her 15th win of the season.
  • Rahrich's home run was her 16th of the season.
  • Craig now has eight home runs on the season.
  • With the win, the Seawolves are 10-6 in conference play.
