Seawolves Return Home to Host Siena

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook men's soccer team returns home from a brief two-game road trip to take on Siena at 7 P.M. on Friday night in LaValle Stadium.

Seawolves Notes
  • Stony Brook went 0-1-1 on its road trip, picking up a 2-2 draw with Fairfield and falling 3-0 to Saint Joseph's.
  • Senior Jarred Dass (Marabella, Trinidad) has scored twice for the Seawolves this season, while freshman Danny Jara (Queens, N.Y.) has one goal on the year.
  • Time in net has been split evenly between sophomore Yamil Montenegro (Merida, Mexico) and freshman Edmond Kaiser (Karlsruhe, Germany) in the 2019 campaign.
  • The Seawolves are coming off a 9-6-3 season a year ago. They captured the America East regular season title, compiling a 5-1-1 record in conference play.
  • The squad returns seven starters from 2018, including leading goal-scorer and America East First Team member, Dass, along with America East Second Team member, senior defenseman Gustavo Fernandes (West Babylon, New York). 
  • The Seawolves bring in ten newcomers, including eight freshman along with transfers Kelechi Akujobi (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Kori Cupid (Chaguanas, Trinidad).
  • The 2019 recruiting class consisted off three incoming goalkeepers, who join Montenegro as the team's net protectors.
The Series with Siena
  • The two sides have only met once, a season ago in Loudonville.
  • The Seawolves outshot Siena, 21-10 but drew 1-1.
Scouting Siena
  • The Saints sit at 1-3-0 so far this season, most recently dropping a 3-2 contest to Bryant on Sunday.
  • The team has scored six goals in 2019, all by different players. 
  • Greg Monroe has made three starts in net for the Saints, owning a 3.00 GAA.
  • Siena added three mid-year transfers to its team this season.
  • The squad was selected to finish tenth in the MAAC Preseason Poll.
  • The Saints are coached by Cesar Markovic, who is in his seventh year with the program. Markovic spent seven seasons at Stony Brook, from 2003-10.
