Dass Scores Fifth Goal, Seawolves Can't Get Past Rider in OT

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Senior Jarred Dass (Marabella, Trinidad) scored his team-leading fifth goal but the Stony Brook men's soccer team fell in overtime to Rider, 2-1 on Tuesday night from LaValle Stadium. With the result, the Seawolves drop to 2-5-1 while Rider improves to 3-3-0. 

Highlights
  • Dass opened the scoring in the 14th minute when he found the back of the net from about twenty yards out off a pass from Gabriel Fernandes (West Babylon, N.Y.). Kori Cupid (Chaguanas, Trinidad) tallied an assist as well.
  • Mark Irvine (Southampton, England) and Stephen Turnbull (Holtsville, N.Y.) both took shots on goal in the 26th and 28th minutes but the attempts were saved by Rider keeper Garret Potter.
  • In the final minute of the first half, Rider's Pablo DeCastro equalized on a penalty kick goal to make the score 1-1.
  • The Broncs took two shots on goal in the first five minutes of the second half but Edmond Kaiser (Karlsruhe, Germany) collected both saves to keep the game even.
  • Turnbull had another shot on goal in the 60th minute but was unable to find the back of the net.
  • Rider's Mathis Catanzaro scored the game-winner in the 106th minute on a free kick.
Stats and Notes
  • Dass' five goals are tied for the second-most in the America East.
  • Kaiser made three saves in the defeat. He ranks third in the conference in saves per game with 4.17.
