LOGAN, Utah – Stony Brook's football fell to FBS foe Utah State on Saturday night at Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium.
 
Junior QB Jack Cassidy (Bohemia, N.Y./Connequot) came off the bench and threw for a career-best 127 yards on 14 completions that included a two-yard touchdown pass to senior RB Isaiah White (Gordon Heights, N.Y./Longwood) in the third quarter.
 
 
SCORING

• Utah State scored first on their opening drive when PK Dominik Eberle made a 35-yard field goal with 12:06 remaining in the first quarter. The drive was 10 plays for 54 yards and took 2:04 off the clock.
• The Aggies added to their first quarter lead when Deven Thompkins returned a punt 45 yards for a touchdown. The PAT by Dominik Eberle was good.
• Utah State tacked on a first quarter touchdown when QB Jordan Love found WR Siaosi Mariner in the end zone from 29 yards away. The PAT by Dominik Eberle was good. The drive was 10 plays for 76 yards and took 2:44 off the clock.
• PK Dominik Eberle made a 37 yard field goal with 14:09 left in the second quarter. The drive was 11 plays for 49 yards and took 2:45 off the clock.
• Utah State's RB Jaylen Warren scored a touchdown on a 28-yard rush late in the second quarter. The PAT by Dominik Eberle was good. The drive was nine plays for 98 yards and took 2:50 off the clock.
• The Aggies' tacked on another rushing touchdown late in the second quarter when RB Gerold Bright reached the end zone on a two-yard rush. The PAT by Dominik Eberle was good. The drive was six plays for 80 yards and took 1:36 off the clock. 
• On the second play of the second half Utah State's RB Jaylen Warren scored on a 54-yard run. The PAT by Dominik Eberle was good. The drive was two plays for 79 yards and took 0:28 off the clock.
• Stony Brook cracked the scoring column with 8:17 remaining in the third quarter when QB Jack Cassidy tossed a three-yard pass to RB Isaiah White. The PAT was good by Nick Courtney. The drive was 14 plays for 75 yards and took 6:09 off the clock.
• Utah State added another score when QB Henry Colombi tossed a 30-yard touchdown pass to WR Derek Wright late in the third quarter. The PAT by Dominik Eberle was good. The drive was 10 plays for 80 yards and took 4:30 off the clock.
• The Aggies' added more when QB Andrew Peasley scampered 59 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. The PAT by Dominik Eberle was good. The drive was two plays for 58 yards and took 0:31 off the clock.
• Utah State tacked on more when QB Henry Colombi hit WR Deven Thompkins with a 10-yard pass in the fourth quarter. The PAT by Dominik Eberle was good. The drive was seven plays for 63 yards and took 1:58 off the clock.

• Stony Brook gained 263 yards of total offense on 73 plays. Utah State had 717 yards of total offense on 87 plays.

• QB Jack Cassidy completed a career-best 14 passes and a career-high 129 yards on Saturday.
• RB Isaiah White pulled in his first receiving touchdown of his career in the third quarter on Saturday's game.
• DB Justin Burns recovered a Utah State fumble in the first quarter, the first recovery of his career. Burns also recorded a career-high seven total tackles in the game.
• LB Reidgee Dimanche collected a career-high nine total tackles in the game.  
• OL Mason Zimmerman extended his consecutive starts streak to 33 games, while DL Sam Kamara and DB Gavin Heslop extended their streaks to 27 straight games. DB Augie Contressa, DB Synceir Malone and DB TJ Morrison all extended their consecutive starts streak to 14 games.
• DB Justin Burns made his first career start against Utah State on Saturday.
• Utah State won the toss and deferred to the second half.
