WEST POINT, N.Y. — Off the schneid in confident fashion.
The Stony Brook tennis team swept St. Bonaventure on Friday night, winning all seven points en route to a 7-0 win, the first of 2020.
"We won a hard fought doubles point tonight and did a really good job of maintaining our level in the singles," head coach
Gary Glassman said. "I'm really proud of how we responded after such a tough start to the season. It's time to continue moving forward."
It was the top pairing who clinched that doubles point, with
Jamie Wei and
Nolwenn Cardoso winning 7-5 in the top doubles flight to clinch the point after the teams split at two and three.
Cardoso then had a resounding win in singles, dominating 6-0, 6-1 in one of three straight set wins during the singles period.
Loreto Villalba-Rubio clinched the match, winning a second-set tiebreak to take the fourth point at No. 6 singles.
