SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Tom Haun climbed into the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team's career top-10 list for goals on Saturday.
The senior attacker netted a pair of goals in each half on Saturday afternoon, but the Seawolves dropped the road contest at Bryant, 15-11.
Haun's four goals marked his fourth hat trick of the season and 17th of his career. He now has 94 career goals and is a three-way tie for 10th on Stony Brook's career list.
"I did not do a good enough job having our team prepared to play Seawolf lacrosse from the opening whistle of the game," Stony Brook head coach
Anthony Gilardi said. "We will watch the film, learn from our mistakes and get better from this game.
"We are looking forward to a full week of preparation before our first conference game of the year next Saturday."
Cory VanGinhoven also had a season-high four goals for the Seawolves. He recorded a hat trick in the fourth quarter alone, the second hat strick of the season and seventh of his career.
Stony Brook scored the first two goals of the second half after being down 7-3 at the break, but Bryant rallied to net the next three goals to take a five-goal advantage.
Devin O'Leary,
Matt Anderson and
Wayne White also had goals for Stony Brook.
Caleb Pearson dished out a pair of assists.
The loss snapped Stony Brook's four-game winning streak.
Stony Brook returns to action next Saturday when it opens its defense of the 2019 America East Conference regular-season title when Hartford visits Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
