Mo Diallo Brings Added Wing Talent to Men's Hoops

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The influx of dynamic wings continues to pour onto Long Island.

Northeastern Junior College transfer Mohamed Diallo has signed with Stony Brook, bringing a 6-foot-6 frame and a great ability to get to the rim to Geno Ford's club.

"Mohamed was one of the most talented guys in the country last season at the junior college level," Ford said about his latest signee. "He has a real gift for scoring the ball from midrange. He comes from a basketball family and should come in and provide us with a high-level, two-way player."

The brother of Providence graduate Alpha Diallo, Mo is looking to follow in the former Friars' footsteps, as Alpha poured in over 1600 points during his career. Originally from Harlem, N.Y., Diallo poured in buckets at a very efficient clip last season, making 56.1 percent of shots from the field.

He finished the season averaging 13.5 points and six rebounds per contest, while also dishing just under 1.5 assists per outing.

"I'm very excited to be attending Stony Brook," Diallo said. "I can't wait to be part of the Seawolves family and wear that red with the No. 11 on my back. What I look forward to most is playing in front of that crowd and having my family there to watch me. I can't wait to get on campus."

Diallo had a pair of 25-point outings this season, combining to shoot 22-of-31 from the field during Nov. 29 and Jan. 21 contests. He also added a 24-point performance against Lamar on Feb. 11, during which he made all four of his shots from long range.

He adds to the ever-growing depth for Coach Ford's club, as the team looks to improve on yet another top two finish in the America East last season.
