DURHAM, N.H. – The Stony Brook University men's soccer team (7-6, 3-4 America East) was defeated by No. 6 New Hampshire (14-0-2, 5-0-1 America East), 5-0, on Thursday evening.
The Wildcats jumped on the board in the 23
rd minute when Tola Showunmi scored his first of two goals on the nights. Following the tally, Stony Brook was able to keep New Hampshire off the board for the remainder of the first half as it trailed, 1-0, after the first 45 minutes of play.
Prior to the halftime intermission, sophomore forward
Selcuk Kahveci had the Seawolves' best scoring chance of the game. The sophomore drove a free kick on target from 14 yards out that was stopped by New Hampshire's Jassem Koleilat, who dove to his left to make the save.
The Wildcats added to their lead in the second half as they recorded four goals in the frame. Kahvechi added two more shots on target for the Seawolves in the second half, but was turned away on both attempts.

The Seawolves are back on the pitch for their regular season finale on Monday, November 1, at 6 p.m., against UAlbany. Stony Brook will celebrate its seniors as it concludes the regular season at LaValle Stadium. The match is free to attend and open to the public!
