SERIES HISTORY: It marks the first time in history that the teams will go head-to-head. The Seawolves are (2-0) all-time against current Big South members. They have earned wins against Hampton and North Carolina A&T, respectively. The last time Stony Brook went up against a current Big South member was on December 8, 2001, when it defeated Hampton, 81-65.

Anastasia Warren were both tabbed to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Stony Brook went (15-6, 11-3 America East) and made its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance facing the No. 3 seed Arizona in 2021. Stony Brook led the America East in scoring defense (52.0 ppg), blocked shots (75), rebounds (792), and rebound margin (+6.6). The Seawolves ranked fourth in the entire nation in scoring defense. Stony Brook has captured each of the last two America East Championships. In 2021, the Seawolves defeated Maine, 64-60, to claim its second championship in a row.
LAST TIME OUT: The Seawolves defeated Delaware State, 87-46, in their season opener on Tuesday, November 9, inside Island Federal Arena. The win came in head coach
Ashley Langford's first game at the helm. The 41-point margin of victory was their largest since they defeated Hofstra, 81-38, on November 13, 2019. Stony Brook received a balanced scoring attack as it had five student-athletes finish in double-figures. Graduate forward

Kelis Corley chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Seawolves combined to dish out 25 assists and only turned the ball over 10 times over the course of the game. The 25 assists were the most in a game for the Seawolves since they also handed out 25 helpers on January 12, 2019, against New Hampshire.
ABOUT THE LANCERS: Longwood fell to the fourth seeded Maryland, 97-67, in the season opener in College Park, Md. on Nov. 9. The Lancers went (14-11, 12-6 Big South) during the 2020-21 season. Rebecca Tillett enters her fourth season as head coach. Tillett set a program record for Big South wins with 12 last season. Kyla McMakin returns as the team's leading scorer. She averaged 17.8 points per game over 25 games (all starts) last season. McMakin totaled 22 points against Maryland in the Lancers' season opener. The Lancers were picked to finish third in the Big South Preseason Poll for the 2021-22 season. This marks the highest finish in the preseason rankings for Longwood.
