Jenkins Earns Second Consecutive Player of the Week Honor

BOSTON — For the second consecutive week, Jahlil Jenkins led the Seawolves to a 2-0 week.

For the second consecutive week, Jenkins was recognized for it, earning his second America East Player of the Week honor in as many weeks. The Ranson, W. Va., native averaged 18 points, 3.5 assists and a pair of steals per contest as Stony Brook continues its hot stretch that has seen four wins in a row and six victories in seven tries. He has averaged 18.3 points over the four-game stretch that encompasses his two awards and also averaged 3.5 assists and two steals per game over that span.

Jenkins also joined elite company on Tuesday night, becoming one of four active Division I players with 1800 points and 500 assists over his career. He currently stands with 1844 and 505, respectively.

Stony Brook heads into a matchup with Top-20 Florida on Wednesday afternoon, its penultimate non-conference contest of the campaign. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m., in Gainesville, Fla., and will be broadcast on SEC Network Plus and ESPN Plus.

Elijah Olaniyi and Jenkins are the two current Seawolves with multiple America East weekly honors on the roster. Olaniyi won three player of the week and four rookie of the week honors in his three-year stint with Stony Brook before rejoining the squad this winter.
