STONY BROOK, N.Y. — In game two of its six-game homestand, the Stony Brook men's basketball team fell to Wagner in front of 2,070 fans at Island Federal Arena on Saturday night.

Jahlil Jenkins led the way, scoring Stony Brook's first seven points en route to a 12-point performance.
 
The Seawolves were able to cut it to 17-16 with 6:42 to go in the half but Wagner pulled away, outscoring the hosts 13-7 down the stretch to take a seven-point lead into the break. That run would continue into the second half, as Wagner shot 20-for-28 from the field in the second 20 minutes to earn the win.

STATS AND NOTES

• Graduate guard Jahlil Jenkins scored his first seven of his final 12 points in the first 6 minutes on perfect 3-for-3 including a made triple.
• It is his 96th career game in double figures and fifth of the year. Both lead the team.
• Freshman forward Payton Shumpert scored a new career-high seven points in 12 minutes of play.
• Tykei Greene recorded a trio of steals tonight, tying a season-high against Sacred Heart on Nov. 22.
• Redshirt-junior Tyler Stephenson-Moore grabbed three boards, a new season-best.

"First off, I appreciate the fans staying to the end. The fans were awesome. Wagner played at a super high level. They went into VCU and beat a good VCU team at their place. They're just tough. I was really disappointed with our level of toughness. Just from strong with the ball, making free throws... I did not think that we showed very much toughness. I thought Tyler [Stephenson-Moore] battled really hard on offense. We had a hard time getting anything going but you have to give them some credit.
