STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Jackson Gregory is headed to the Stony Brook football team for the fall season.

Gregory, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound center/guard from Westlake (Ohio) High School, just outside of Cleveland, has signed with Seawolves and will transfer from Louisville.

He appeared in four games with the Cardinals in 2019 — against Miami, NC State, Syracuse and Kentucky — and nonetheless qualified for a redshirt year. He then appeared in an additional two games in 2020.

Gregory was a four-year starter at Westlake while playing center and defensive end as well as serving as the long snapper. An all-conference selection, he totaled 24 career sacks and captained the team as a senior.

With Gregory as a leader, Westlake reached the second round of the playoffs for the first time in more than 25 years. The team's achievements included a state-record-setting 36-point comeback with 10 minutes remaining to win.

Gregory had the opportunity to interact with several professional linemen during high school because his father, Tim, a former track runner at Miami of Ohio, worked as a trainer.
