Women's Hoops Heads into Postseason with UAlbany Sweep

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook women's basketball team is headed into the postseason on a high note.

The 2019-20 America East champs defeated UAlbany, 62-42, on Tuesday afternoon at Island Federal Arena.

Stony Brook, which already had earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, completed the regular season 13-5 overall and 11-3 in the league.

The Seawolves have earned the No. 2 seed and will host a semifinal on March 7 at 3 p.m. against the top remaining seed from among No. 3 UMass Lowell, No. 4 UAlbany, No. 5 New Hampshire and No. 6 NJIT.

Stony Brook never trailed on Tuesday en route to sweeping consecutive games against UAlbany to close the regular season.

All 10 Seawolves who saw action scored in the game. Asiah Dingle, Anastasia Warren and Leighah-Amori Wool scored in double-figures.

"I thought we came out with an aggressive mindset today," coach Caroline McCombs said. "We have a tough-nosed group, and we made plays throughout the game that we need to do heading into the postseason. We want to be playing our best basketball in March. So being mindful of how connected we are as a group is really our focus."
