NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Brian Herrmann dazzled on the mound. But the Stony Brook baseball team came up short of a series sweep on Sunday afternoon.
Central Connecticut State rallied for a 4-1 victory to salvage the finale of the three-game series.
Stony Brook had grabbed the early lead when
Johnny Decker singled and ultimately scored on a wild pitch in the second inning.
Herrmann took a scoreless effort into the seventh inning, when the Blue Devils posted a pair of runs.
Herrmann, nursing the 1-0 lead, departed after surrendering a leadoff single to Buddy Dewaine.
Nick DeGennaro then entered and Central Connecticut was able to push across a couple of runs in the frame.
Herrmann was charged with one run on three hits in six innings.
Stony Brook (4-5) returns to action Wednesday at Fordham.
