WEST POINT, N.Y.— The Stony Brook women's tennis team ran into a lights-out performance from Army West Point on Friday.
The host Cadets defeated Stony Brook, 4-1.
The competition was halted after Army had clinched due to a power failure, leaving matches involving
Mathilde Sreeves at third singles and
Chandrika Joshi at fifth singles unfinished.
Sreeves and Joshi both had won their first sets and were leading in their second sets.
Loreto Villalba Rubio earned Stony Brook's lone point, winning 6-2, 6-4 at sixth singles.
"Army was too good tonight," coach
Gary Glassman said. "They played with their typical passion and intensity. They didn't give away many free points, and we didn't capitalize on our opportunities."
The Seawolves (3-2) return to action next Saturday, when they host UConn in the first outdoor match of the season.
