STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook women's tennis team made sure its home debut would not be foiled.
After losing the doubles point, Stony Brook took five of six singles matches en route to the home victory in the team's first match of the season at University Courts.
"This was a great team win this afternoon over a very tough UConn squad," coach
Gary Glassman said. "After losing the doubles point, the ladies never flinched. They came out extremely focused and determined in the singles."
Loreto Villalba-Rubio extended her singles win streak to four, coming back from a set down at No. 6 to win 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 in the second singles match to finish.
Mathilde Sreeves clinched the match, winning 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
The Seawolves improved to 4-2 on the season. They next will host Hofstra on Friday and Fairfield on Saturday next weekend.
