Pearson, Feato Tally First Career Goals as Women's Soccer Blanks NJIT

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook women's soccer team offered a rude America East welcome to NJIT.

The Seawolves defeated the conference newcomers, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium to remain unbeaten in America East play.

Alyssa Francese, Kerry Pearson, Leah FeatoChelsie DePonte and Michaela Goglia all scored for the Seawolves (3-2, 3-0 AE).

It marked the highest scoring output and the largest margin of victory since a 5-0 win at Delaware State on Sept. 29, 2019.

Francese's goal, which opened the scoring in the 15th minute, came on a penalty kick after DePonte was fouled in the box.

It was Pearson and Feato's first collegiate goals.

Emerson Richmond Burke recorded her second consecutive shutout.

"It was a complete team effort," coach Tobias Bischof said. "I really liked the energy from the team. Every team member brought themselves into the win today."

The Seawolves return to action next Sunday when they host Maine.
