STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Kyra McFarland claimed her third America East Rookie of the Week award of her freshman season on Tuesday.

McFarland went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Wednesday in the Stony Brook softball team's 2-0 win against Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J.

McFarland, a second baseman from Greeley, Colo., singled up the middle to plate Alina Lance to account for the second run in Dawn Bodrug's one-hit shutout.

Stony Brook improved to 18-8 overall entering Tuesday's 3 p.m. nonleague game against St. John's at University Field.

McFarland enters the game against the Red Storm hitting .293 (17-for-58).
