GREENVILLE, N.C. — Rachel Florenz gave the Stony Brook women's soccer team life, scoring on a header off a corner kick from
Catharina von Drigalski.
The score drew the Seawolves within a goal of Ohio State in the first half.
However, the Buckeyes ultimately produced four first-half goals en route to a 5-1 victory against Stony Brook in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday at East Carolina University.
"Congrats to Lori, her staff and Ohio State on a well-played game," head coach
Tobias Bischof said. "I am proud of our team for what they have accomplished from this journey that started back in August. I want to thank our seniors for an incredible career and now we turn our focus to the upcoming fall."
Stony Brook, which has represented America East in three of the past four NCAA tourneys, completed its season with a 6-4 overall record.
The Seawolves surrendered their most goals since the first of those three NCAA matches — a 7-0 loss to fellow Big Ten member Penn State on Nov. 10, 2017.
