STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Aiming for payback after dropping an extra-inning game in the Bronx last week, the Stony Brook softball team grabbed an early lead in Thursday's rematch.
However, Fordham overcame
Jordyn Nowakowski's two-run second-inning homer and ultimately held on for a 5-2 win at University Field.
The Rams extended their winning streak to 18 games.
Stony Brook starter
Shelbi Denman limited Fordham to one run on one hit, albeit with four walks, in four innings.
Melissa Rahrich inherited the 2-1 lead for the fifth and surrendered a pair of runs in the frame.
The Seawolves (17-8) threatened in the sixth, but left a pair of runners in scoring position.
A half-inning later, Rachel Hubertus provided insurance for Fordham with a two-run homer.
