STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Thanks to a 39th minute penalty kick, the Stony Brook men's soccer team fell to Hofstra in the Battle of Long Island at LaValle Stadium on Monday night, dropping the Seawolves to 1-1-0 on the season.
Despite keeping the Pride to just three shots on frame, one of them was able to sneak by the outstretched right arm of Seawolves keeper
Edmond Kaiser to decide the night. After a foul was called in the box, Stefan Mason stepped up to the spot and rolled it past Kaiser.
The hosts' best chance of the night came late, when
Aki Solvason played a back-post cross to
Cameron Bonfils, who rose to meet the ball uncontested but sent it over the bar with just over three minutes on the clock.
