BOSTON — Freshman
Jonas Bickus earned league recognition after volleying home an 82nd-minute winner in his collegiate debut and was tabbed the America East Rookie of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Lithuanian national hit a punched corner with his right foot, low into the net to give Stony Brook all it would need to secure the victory on Thursday night against LIU. It was his only shot of the contest in 78 minutes of action.
It is the second consecutive Seawolves opener in which a rookie scored his first career goal.
Aki Solvason and
Trevor Harrison each added tallies in their debuts at St. John's this February.
Stony Brook returns to action Friday against Drexel before coming back to LaValle Stadium for a Labor Day matinee against Columbia. Kickoff in that one is scheduled 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public!
