LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — After flying out to the program's best start in 17 years, the Stony Brook men's soccer team dropped its final tuneup before conference play on Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 3-1 decision at Rider.
Jordan Riley recorded his first goal as a Seawolf, firing home a turnaround shot in the box after a Stony Brook corner but it was too late to keep the rally going.
The teams played to a scoreless first half but a Rider goal in the 55th minute off a corner proved to be enough for the hosts, sending the Seawolves to 4-2 ahead of the team's America East opener on Saturday against Vermont.
Rider would add another off a set piece in the 68th minute before a breakaway tally in the 74th put the game away.
