EUGENE, ORE. – The Stony Brook University football team (1-2, 0-1 CAA) did not back down from the challenge that was at hand of facing Oregon (3-0), the number four ranked team in the country. The Seawolves stood toe-to-toe with the Ducks, but were defeated, 48-7, on Saturday at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore.
After the Ducks went up 10-0 in the first quarter, the Seawolves responded by punching in a touchdown of their own. Following Oregon's first touchdown of the day, Stony Brook got the ball back with 5:18 to go in the first quarter. The Seawolves put together an 11-play, 75-yard drive that resulted in a touchdown to close out the opening quarter.

Tyquell Fields found redshirt junior running back
Ty Son Lawton coming out of the backfield for a 14-yard pitch and catch that resulted in a Stony Brook first down. The drive was capped off by Lawton, who found the end zone with a five-yard touchdown run to get the Seawolves on the board.
Oregon responded by scoring a touchdown of its own to begin the second quarter. The Ducks' quarterback Anthony Brown found the end zone with a seven-yard touchdown run that put them out in front, 17-7. The Seawolves battled with the Ducks for the entirety of the second quarter as both teams traded possessions over the remainder of the frame.
Stony Brook closed out the first half with a pair of big-time sacks. Redshirt senior defensive back
Jabari Reddock took down Brown for a nine-yard loss with 25 second remaining in the second quarter. Redshirt freshman linebacker
Tyler King followed suit by bringing down Brown for a loss of six yards, which was the final play of the first half.
Despite the Seawolves' gritty first half effort, Oregon controlled the pace of play in the second half and pulled away.
STATS AND NOTES
- King recorded a career-high 12 tackles (seven solo, five assists), a career-best 3.0 tackles for loss, and a sack.
- Lawton rushed for 53 yards on 15 carries and found the end zone for the third time this season. The redshirt junior has rushed for a touchdown in each of the first three games of the season for the Seawolves. The three-game touchdown streak is the second-longest of his career. Lawton had a five-game touchdown streak in 2019 (Sep. 21-Oct. 26).
- Graduate defensive back Carthell Flowers had another strong game for Stony Brook. For the second game in a row, Flowers registered nine tackles. The graduate also tallied a half of a sack as he teamed up with redshirt junior defensive lineman Makye Smith on the stop. Smith posted a season-high seven tackles and had his share of a sack on Saturday. The redshirt junior has notched sacks in back-to-back games.
- Redshirt senior linebacker Reidgee Dimanche and redshirt junior Calique Cato-Jacobs each recorded seven tackles apiece. Dimanche has notched seven or more tackles in each of the first three games of the season for Stony Brook.
- Graduate quarterback Tyquell Fields went 10-23 for 131 yards. Fields found redshirt sophomore Shawn Harris Jr. for a 49-yard completion in the second quarter. Harris registered three catches for a career-high 67 yards. The 49-yard reception was the longest play against the Oregon defense this season.
