STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The national preseason recognition has begun for the Stony Brook baseball team as the squad received votes this morning, December 20, in the Collegiate Baseball's Fabulous 50 NCAA Div. I Preseason Poll.

The Seawolves were just one of three teams from the Colonial Athletic Association that received votes in the poll, along with the College of Charleston and the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The squad was one of four teams that hail from the Empire State to also receive votes in the preseason poll (Army, Binghamton, and Canisius).

It marks the program's first appearance into the preseason poll since the 2016 edition and was ranked last time in-season was on May 20, 2021, at 26th overall.

Stony Brook will embark on their first season in their Colonial Athletic Association after collecting six conference tournament titles, seven regular season championships, six NCAA Tournament appearances and one unforgettable run to the College World Series in 2012 during their time in the America East.

The squad begins their 2023 journey out west, as they head to Los Angeles, California, to battle California State – Northridge on February 17. The Seawolves' schedule features 26 games at Joe Nathan Field, a 30-game Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) slate, and non-conference trips that include Troy, Chapel Hill, and West Point.
