BRONX, N.Y. – The Stony Brook University softball team (9-7) was edged by Fordham (9-10) in both games of a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday. The Seawolves fell to their fellow New York foe, 3-2, in the first game of the day. Stony Brook was then topped by Fordham, 6-0, in game two.
The Seawolves received another complete game performance from graduate pitcher
Dawn Bodrug who went the distance in game one as she struck out 12 Rams in the process. Despite her strong effort in the circle, Stony Brook was defeated by Fordham, 3-2, in the contest.
GAME 1: STONY BROOK – 2, FORDHAM – 3
- Sophomore utility Catherine Anne Kupinski singled in a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. Kupinski's two-out RBI single brought in sophomore outfielder Alicia Orosco and freshman outfielder Alyssa Costello.

- Costello went 2-3 at the dish with a pair of singles, a run scored, and a stolen base. It was her first career multi-hit game.
- The Rams tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Rachel Hubertus hit a two-run home run to left center. They took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning when Mary Grace O'Neill scored on an error.
GAME 2: STONY BROOK – 0, FORDHAM – 6

- Junior catcher Corinne Badger went 2-3 at the plate with two singles. It marked her fifth multi-hit game of the season.
- Sophomore infielder Kyra McFarland reached base in both games to extend her reached base streak to 15 games in a row.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Unfortunately, the story of the games today was that we got away from what we do well offensively and Fordham made the most of their situational opportunities. We can't leave 17 runners on base and expect to win. We will regroup, go back to work and turn the page on this doubleheader," said head coach
Megan T. Bryant.
