SASKATCHEWAN – Stony Brook University football alumnus TJ Morrison has signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Morrison continues his professional career in the CFL after spending time with the Las Vegas Raiders of the NFL in 2021.
Morrison was a five-year member of the Stony Brook football program and played in 40 games. Over the course of his collegiate career, he recorded 109 tackles (85 solo, 24 assists), five tackles for loss, 18 pass breakups, two interceptions, one sack, and one fumble recovery.
As a senior during the 2020-21 season, he was named a team Captain, selected to the Phil Steele Preseason All-CAA Second Team, earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, and was a National Football Foundation William V. Campbell Trophy nominee.
Morrison put together a standout season in 2019 as he registered 40 tackles (31 solo, nine assists), seven pass breakups, one interception, and one fumble recovery. He concluded the season with a career-high 10 tackles against Albany on November 23.
In 2018, Morrison was named to the All-CAA Third Team after racking up a career-high 42 tackles (34 solo, eight assists). His lone interception of that season was returned for a 35-yard touchdown in the win over New Hampshire on October 13, 2018.
The Roughriders play their first preseason game on Monday, May 23, when they go head-to-head with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Saskatchewan kicks off the 2022 season on Saturday, June 11, when it takes on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
