Baseball Alumnus Chris Hamilton Becomes Youngest Member of John Ramsey Leadership Society

Chris Hamilton was a true leader on and off the field for the Stony Brook baseball program over his five years on Long Island and made a lasting impression on the Seawolves community. Hamilton continues to make his mark on his alma mater as he recently became the youngest member of the newly established John Ramsey Leadership Society.

It is gratifying to give back because I appreciate all the growth that I had while being a Stony Brook student-athlete. My brother Jimmy and I are involved in charitable activities and I also wish to give back to the baseball program because I believe it is an important part of my growth as a person.
Said Hamilton as he discussed joining the Ramsey Leadership Society

At the young age of 23 years old, Hamilton understands the importance that his philanthropic impact could have on the University and its student-athletes. The former Seawolves’ first baseman recalls his tremendous experience at the University and was compelled to be one of the inaugural members of the RLS so that he can help make a difference on the campus he knows and loves.

“Chris is one of the finest young men I’ve ever had the pleasure to coach. He possesses a multitude of personal attributes including a tremendous work ethic, an outstanding moral character, and the ability to lead by example. These traits along with his highly competitive nature made Chris an absolute coach’s dream and he will always be one of the most outstanding players to put on a Seawolves uniform,” said baseball head coach Matt Senk.

Hamilton’s high character and relentless work ethic led him to be named an All-America East First Team selection in 2021. Now that his playing days are over, Hamilton has continued his pursuit of greatness as he currently works for three family operated franchises (Planet Fitness, Smoothie King, Buff City Soap).

As a member of the Ramsey Leadership Society, he has made a multi-year, major gift commitment to the Stony Brook baseball program. Members of the RLS can choose to support any Sport-Specific Fund for Excellence, Seawolves United Unrestricted Giving, or any current department capital project, endowment, or scholarship need.

“Becoming a member of the John Ramsey Leadership Society is instrumental in my growth and I am looking forward to giving back to a program that helped me so much on and off the baseball field,” said Hamilton.

The future is bright on Long Island as supporters like Hamilton are eager to make a difference within the Seawolves’ community. The 2021 graduate beamed with positivity as he shared his hopes for the future of the baseball program.

My hopes for the future of Stony Brook baseball is that it continues to be one of the top Division I programs in the Northeast and that the facility upgrades that are necessary to keep Stony Brook among the top programs get the support and funding needed.

With the formal introduction of the Ramsey Leadership Society, Seawolves United will continue to grow the giving society over the coming days, weeks, months, and years. The goal of the RLS is to maximize the philanthropic impact of Stony Brook Athletics' supporters in the continued pursuit of excellence on Long Island.
