THE MATCHUP: The Seawolves are set to travel to Richmond to go head-to-head with the Spiders on Saturday, September 24, at 2 p.m. The game will air on FloFootball with Bob Black (play-by-play), Chris Anderson (analyst), and Sean Robertson (sideline) on the call. Stony Brook is 4-3 all-time against Richmond and has posted a 1-2 record at Robins Stadium. The Seawolves and Spiders last met on October 23, 2021, at LaValle Stadium on Long Island. Stony Brook knocked off Richmond, 27-14, behind a stout defensive performance. In that game, Randy Pringle picked off two passes and became the first Seawolf to record two interceptions in a game since November 21, 2016. Carthell Flowers-Lloyd recorded a career-high 14 tackles, one sack, and forced two fumbles en route to the win. Stony Brook is 4-1 in its last five games against Richmond dating to the 2016 season.

LAST TIME OUT: Stony Brook outgained UMass in total yards, 333-264, but ultimately fell to the Minutemen, 20-3, on Saturday, September 17. Redshirt freshman quarterback Daron Bryden went 15-31 for 186 yards. The 15 completions and 186 yards were both early career-highs for the Bloomfield, Connecticut native. It marked the 13th time in program history that Stony Brook faced an FBS opponent.

AGAINST RANKED FCS TEAMS: Stony Brook is 11-30 all-time against FCS ranked opponents. Stony Brook earned wins over No. 13 Villanova in week five and No. 11 Delaware in week 10 of 2018. The Seawolves had victories over No. 12 New Hampshire and No. 17 Richmond in 2017. The Seawolves also posted two ranked wins in 2016. Stony Brook earned a 42-14 win over No. 2 Richmond and a 13-9 season-opening victory against No. 19 North Dakota. Richmond's No. 2 ranking equals the highest ranked opponent to come into Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium (No. 2 Towson on Sept. 28, 2013). The win over Richmond also marked the program's first victory over a top 10 team.

Since the start of the 2018 season, the Seawolves have rushed for over 100 yards as a team in 37 of their 41 games played. Stony Brook eclipsed the 100-yard mark 47 times out of their last 54 games dating back to the start of the 2017 season. The Seawolves have rushed for over 100 yards in five-straight games dating to November 6, 2021, at Maine.
