9/30/2022 3:37:00 PM

THE BASICS: The Seawolves are set to host No. 18/21 William & Mary on Saturday, October 1, at 3:30 p.m. at LaValle Stadium. The game will air on FloFootball with Jonny Wincott (play-by-play), Sam Kornhauser (analyst), and Matt Levine (sideline) on the call.

THE MATCHUP: Stony Brook and William & Mary go head-to-head for the first time since 2017. The Seawolves hold a 1-3 all-time record against the Tribe with their lone win coming in their last meeting, a 21-18 victory on September 30, 2017. Stony Brook last welcomed William & Mary to Long Island on November 5, 2016, when the Tribe earned a narrow 14-9 win.

CAMPBELL TROPHY SEMIFINALIST: Kyle Nunez has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy as announced by the NFF. He is one of 156 semifinalists from around the nation, one of 37 from the NCAA FCS level, and just one of four from the CAA. The Trophy has become the most prestigious academic award in college football. The trophy recognizes an individual as the absolute best in the country for his academic success, football performance, and exemplary leadership.

DEFENSIVE DUO: Seawolves' graduate linebacker Reidgee Dimanche and graduate defensive back Carthell Flowers-Lloyd rank first and second on the team in tackles with 24 and 21, respectively. Dimanche ranks 21st in the league in tackles, while Flowers-Lloyd is third in the CAA in TFLs.

AGAINST RANKED FCS TEAMS: Stony Brook is 11-31 all-time against FCS ranked opponents. Stony Brook earned wins over No. 13 Villanova in week five and No. 11 Delaware in week 10 of 2018. The Seawolves had victories over No. 12 New Hampshire and No. 17 Richmond in 2017. The Seawolves also posted two ranked wins in 2016. Stony Brook earned a 42-14 win over No. 2 Richmond and a 13-9 season-opening victory against No. 19 North Dakota. Richmond's No. 2 ranking equals the highest ranked opponent to come into Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium (No. 2 Towson on Sept. 28, 2013). The win over Richmond also marked the program's first victory over a top 10 team.
