STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook football head coach
Billy Cosh announced the addition of two signees to the program's signing class, as both signed National Letters of Intent for the Division I football early signing period on Wednesday.
The Seawolves will add tight end Alex Menghi along with offensive lineman Kevin Garcia to the program. Both will be eligible for the 2024 season as freshmen.
Menghi will be staying on Long Island while Garcia comes to the Seawolves from New Jersey.
"We're very excited about the young men joining our football family at Stony Brook," Cosh said. "All have the qualities to be very successful here at Stony Brook. Ready to get to work with these guys!"

Alex Menghi | TE | Smithtown, N.Y. | 6'4" | 220 lbs. | St. Anthony's
Staying on Long Island to sign with Stony Brook, Menghi won the 2022 NYCHSFL AAA state championship with St. Anthony's, as the Friars completed an 11-1 season that fall to earn the school's first ever state title. Menghi has earned a bevy of awards in his high school career, including All-Northeast distinction, Newsday All-Long Island Team, and was named both Top 10 in New York State for the class of 2024 by Rivals and among Newsday's 2023 Top 100 Players on Long Island. The team captain was also nominated for the 2023 USA Football Heart of a Giant Award, presented by the New York Giants.
Kevin Garcia | OL | Paterson, N.J. | 6'3" | 325 lbs. | Don Bosco Prep
Garcia was a part of a pair of state finalist teams at Don Bosco Prep, as the Ironmen reached the Non-Public Group A finals in 2021 and again in 2022. Don Bosco totaled a 17-8 record in those two seasons and earned the No. 1 overall seed in 2022. Additionally, the Ironmen clinched its first division title since 2013 in what is regarded as the toughest league in the state, averaging nine yards per carry in the clincher. He was a three-year starter at left tackle.
