STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Stony Brook University men's basketball team defeated Stonehill, 81-63, on Wednesday evening at Island Federal Arena. Four players scored in double figures, led by Tyler Stephenson-Moore's season-high 23 points. Jared Frey tacked on 12 points and five assists, Keenan Fitzmorris chipped in with 11 points and Dean Noll finished with 10 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seawolves enjoyed success from beyond the arc and at the charity stripe all evening, getting things started early. Trifectas from Stephenson-Moore, Noll and Frey helped the Seawolves open up an early 19-11 advantage five minutes into the contest.
Toby Onyekonwu would get in on the action, connecting on a three of his own down the stretch just ahead of a seven-minute offensive outburst that saw the Seawolves extend its lead from six points to 15 at the intermission.
Stonehill never got back within single digits of Stony Brook. The Seawolves provided an answer for every Skyhawk bucket, stringing together run after run to eventually pad the lead to 19 points with just under 11 minutes remaining. The lead grew to as large as 22 points down the stretch, with Stony Brook ultimately closing out an 18-point victory at home to snap a two-game losing streak.
