UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team (0-2) battled tough in Happy Valley, but ultimately fell to the Nittany Lions, 17-12, on Saturday.
The Seawolves' offense was fueled by junior attacker/midfielder
Noah Armitage and senior attacker
Will Button. Armitage led the way, tallying a career-tying four goals while Button found the back of the cage on three separate occasions to record a new career-high and his first career hattrick.
Stony Brook wasted no time as it got on the board first with 13:25 to play in the first quarter. Button slipped the ball past Penn State goalie Jack Fracyon to spark the Seawolves offense and record his first goal of the season.
Stony Brook kept the momentum rolling and took an early 3-0 lead courtesy of back-to-back goals from freshman midfielder
Sean Carlo and Armitage.
Penn State came from behind and grabbed a hold of the lead, 4-3, in the first quarter resulting from a 4-0 run that was sparked by a goal from graduate attacker Chris Jordan with 10:58 left to play.
The Seawolves answered back with a goal from Armitage that was assisted by graduate midfielder
Matt Anderson to knot the contest up at 4-4. However, the Nittany Lions responded quickly to take back the lead and never looked back to ultimately take the contest, 17-12.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Another tough opponent that did a good job of taking advantage of our mistakes. We need to continue to work towards playing more consistent lacrosse all over the field day in and day out, game in and game out," said head coach
