PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Seawolves (2-4) went toe-to-toe with the Providence Friars on Saturday afternoon and used a fourth quarter surge to force overtime. Providence (4-3) ultimately came away with the 10-9 victory as Jack Horrigan scored the game-winner with 2:28 to play in the overtime period.
Despite the defeat, Stony Brook showed grit as it rallied in the fourth to tie the game up at 9-9 after trailing, 8-5, at the beginning of the quarter. The Seawolves outscored the Friars, 4-1, in the fourth quarter and their comeback was capped off by graduate attackman
Jonathan Huber who scored the game-tying goal to make it 9-9 as time expired.
With three seconds left in regulation, senior attackman
Dylan Pallonetti found Huber in the middle of the field off a reset. Huber turned and fired the ball while falling to the ground and found the back of the net as time expired to send the game into overtime. For Huber, it was his first goal of the game and ninth of the season.
Stony Brook won the opening face-off in overtime and was denied on their first possession as Pallonetti was turned away by Friars' goalie James Corasaniti. On Providence's ensuing possession, Horrigan tallied his fourth goal of the game which proved to be the game-winner.
The Seawolves had a trio record multi-goal games as Pallonetti, Button, and Anderson all scored two goals apiece in the game.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"I am proud of the effort and heart to battle back and find a way to tie it up. We had plenty of chances throughout the game that we need to capitalize on. We are in position to make plays and have to start consistently making them in the moment. We have a quick turnaround to finish up our non-conference slate before CAA play begins. We need to get back to work and be ready for Tuesday night," said head coach
Anthony Gilardi.
