HAMPTON, Va. – The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team continued its offensive prowess on Saturday afternoon as it rolled to a 19-3 victory over Hampton en route to its first-ever win in CAA play. The Seawolves were paced by 11 goal scorers and limited the Pirates to just three goals, the fewest they allowed in a game since limiting Manhattan to three goals on February 7, 2015.
Stony Brook jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Seawolves scored the first seven goals of the game by the 9:00 minute mark in the second quarter. Junior
Noah Armitage and senior
Dylan Pallonetti fueled the 7-0 run by scoring two goals apiece over the span.
The Seawolves closed the first half up 10-2 as Armitage added his third goal of the day to secure a hat trick over the first 30 minutes of play. After Hampton scored the first goal of the second half with 12:17 to play in the third quarter, Stony Brook went on to score nine consecutive goals to close out the 19-3 win.
Armitage led the attack for the Seawolves as he registered a career-high seven points. The junior found the back of the net six times, which marked a new career-high and became the second Stony Brook student-athlete to score six goals in a game (Pallonetti scored six goals against Air Force on Feb. 24).
Pallonetti extended his goal scoring streak to 36 straight games. The senior scored three goals and dished out an assist for four points. It was his fifth hat trick of the season, and he has recorded a hat trick in five out of his last six games.
Graduate attackman
Jonathan Huber had a five-point day with two goals and three assists. The five points and three assists were the most he tallied in a game at Stony Brook. Graduate midfielder
Matt Anderson had four points of his own with one goal and three assists.
Sophomore goalie
Jamison MacLachlan picked up his fourth win of the season in net as he and the Stony Brook defense limited Hampton to just three goals.
