RICHMOND, Va. – For the second time this season, Stony Brook junior pitcher Mia Haynes has been named the CAA Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.

The right-hander also earned the Pitcher of the Week honors on February 28 after collecting wins over Buffalo and CCSU. Haynes became the first player in program history to earn a CAA weekly award twice in one season.

Haynes, a native of Virginia, went 2-0 in the circle for the Seawolves this past weekend as she led the squad to back-to-back shutout victories over Hampton University on Saturday and Sunday to secure the CAA series.

In the second game against Hampton on Saturday, Haynes allowed six hits and struck out two batters over five innings in the 8-0 run-rule victory. The junior returned to the circle on Sunday looking to give the Seawolves the series clinching victory.

Haynes tossed another five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, and struck out five batters to lead the Seawolves to the 9-0 victory to clinch their second series of the season. It was the third time in her four last starts that the right-hander completed at least five shutout innings.

This season, she is 11-6 with a 3.94 ERA through 28 appearances, including a team-high 20 starts. Haynes leads the team in strikeouts (78), wins (11), complete games (12), shutouts (4), and innings pitched (122.2).

Stony Brook will return to the diamond on Wednesday, April 26, when it hosts Fordham University at University Field. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
