QUEENS, N.Y. – The Stony Brook softball team fell to St. John's, 10-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Red Storm Field.
 
The Red Storm came out strong and took an early lead with a big third inning. St. John's tallied eight runs in the third inning courtesy of back-to-back fielding errors, a RBI double, a two RBI single, and a two run home run.
 
The team from Queens kept the hot hitting going in the fourth, plating two more runs with a double to left center and a single to left to ultimately secure the 10-0 victory in five innings.
 
STATS AND NOTES

• Junior outfielder Alicia Orosco and sophomore outfielder Alyssa Costello both went 2-3 at the plate. Costello registered her fifth double in the last six contests.
• Senior infielder Brooke Dye and junior infielder Sofia Chambers both recorded a hit in the game.
• Mia Haynes got the start in the circle and tossed 2.1 innings. Amanda Flynn came in and pitch 0.2 innings. Ashton Melaas entered and threw the final 1.0 inning.

NEXT UP
The Seawolves return to University Field Friday, May 5 for a double header of a three-game series with Monmouth. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on FloSoftball.
