STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Seawolves are adding a veteran in the circle.

Former Cornell University southpaw pitcher Gabrielle Maday will join the Stony Brook softball team for the upcoming season, the program announced on Wednesday afternoon. Maday will have two years of eligibility remaining and has been accepted into the Master's of Public Health Program.

The Clarkston, Mich., native registered 14 wins, 17 complete games, two saves, and one shutout over 202.1 innings in her three seasons for the Big Red.

"We are thrilled that Gabby and her family have decided to join our Seawolves family. She is a great addition to our team, pitching staff, and university. Gabby knows what it takes to succeed academically and athletically. She has an exceptional work ethic, understands pitching at a high level, and is a competitor. We look forward to Gabby coming to the Island," head coach Megan Bryant said about Maday joining the Stony Brook softball program.

Last season, Maday produced career highs and led the team in numerous categories, including wins (7), WHIP (1.33), games started (17), and complete games (6). During her time with Cornell, Maday was under the tutelage of former Stony Brook softball Hall of Famer, two-time America East Pitcher of the Year, and holder of the most wins in program history, Allie Brewster.

"I want to thank Coach Bryant, Coach K, and Coach Tracey for the opportunity to continue my collegiate softball career at Stony Brook as I pursue my master's degree," Maday said regarding joining the Seawolves. "I am excited to spend the next two years growing as a player and contributing to the strong legacy and bright future of the Seawolves program!"

Stony Brook is coming off of its inaugural season in the CAA, where the squad went 29-17 (10-13 CAA), earning the seven seed in the program's first CAA Tournament appearance. During the tournament, the Seawolves rattled off four upset-wins in the tournament, which included eliminating No. 1 Delaware, No. 2 UNCW, No. 4 Elon, and No. 6 Charleston.
