STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook football team continues to gain national media attention as the squad earned the No. 20 spot in the AFCA Coaches and Stats Perform Top-25 Polls as announced by both organizations this morning following their victory over No. 15 William & Mary on Saturday.
This is the first time this season that the Seawolves have found themselves inside the Stats Perform Top-25 poll after receiving votes from the organization for the past seven weeks. Stony Brook was ranked No. 24 in the AFCA Coaches Poll last week, their first appearance in the Top-25 since 2019 and received votes from the organization for the last eight weeks.
The No. 20 spot for Stony Brook is the highest they've been ranked in either poll since the squad came in at No. 17 on Oct. 15, 2018.
In their last time out, the team used a big 220-yard output on the ground, including 144 yards from Roland Dempster, and two rushing touchdowns to pick up a 35-13 win over the Tribe on homecoming at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. It marked the Seawolves first ranked victory since 2021.
Stony Brook returns to the field on Saturday, November 2, hitting the road to take on Bryant. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. with coverage on FloFootball.
