OPENING KICK
  • This marks the 12th matchup in program history between these two teams, the first since the Hawks defeated the Seawolves 56-17 on Nov. 4, 2023, in New Jersey. Stony Brook was led by season-best 141 rushing yards along with a score from redshirt junior Roland Dempster on a career-high 22 carries, averaging 6.4 per carry. Classmate Jadon Turner added 50 yards on 10 carries and redshirt junior Jayden Cook provided Stony Brook's other rushing score.
  • In their last time out, the Stony Brook football team was in control for a majority of the afternoon, including a 21-point lead, but the New Hampshire Wildcats scored 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to ultimately take the victory at home. 
  • The Stony Brook football team earned the No. 18 spot in the FCS Stats Perform Top-25 Poll and No. 20 ranking in the AFCA Coaches Top-25 Poll as announced by both organizations Monday morning. 
  • On Monday morning, Cosh became the second head coach in program history to be named the AFCA Region 1 Coach of the Year.
  • This season, the Seawolves have achieved their highest national ranking since 2018, their most wins since 2017 and their first winning season since 2018, with an impressive 8-3 (5-2 CAA) record.
  • This is the final home game of the regular season for the Seawolves. The four road wins this season are the most since the 2018 season. 
  • Roland Dempster is third in the FCS and second in the CAA with 18 rushing touchdowns this season. He is three touchdowns away from tying Miguel Maysonet '12 for the most rushing touchdowns in a single season in program history. 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Stony Brook football team was in control for a majority of the afternoon, including a 21-point lead, but the New Hampshire Wildcats scored 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to ultimately take the victory at home. 
  • Tyler Knoop led Stony Brook's passing attack with 194 yards through the air, tossing three touchdowns without throwing an interception. 
  • Roland Dempster paced the Seawolves rushing attack by accumulating 85 yards over the course of the game, averaging 4 yards per carry.  
  • Rodney Faulk led the Stony Brook defensive effort, collecting four tackles, 3.0 TFL, two sacks, and one forced fumble. 
  • A.J. Roberts added six tackles, 1.0 TFL, and one recovered fumble and Shamoun Duncan-Niusulu had seven tackles and one interception in the loss. 
  • The Seawolves move to 3-9 and 1-5 on the road all-time against the Wildcats. 
COSH EARNS COACH OF THE YEAR 
  • First-year head coach Billy Cosh was named the 2024 AFCA Region 1 Coach of the Year after leading Stony Brook to its most wins since 2017, following a winless 2023 season. The announcement was made this morning by the AFCA organization. 
  • Cosh becomes only the second head coach in program history to receive this honor.
  • The second-youngest coach in Division I football, Cosh has transformed a team predicted to finish last in the CAA Preseason Coaches Poll into a national contender. 
  • Stony Brook has taken the FCS by storm this season, ranking in the top 10 nationally in several offensive and defensive categories. The Seawolves lead the CAA and rank in the FCS top 10 for fumbles recovered, turnover margin, turnovers gained, and blocked punts allowed.
  • This season marks the biggest turnaround in the FCS, with the Seawolves improving from 0-10 to 8-3. 
  • Cosh has also secured the third-most wins among first-year head coaches in the FCS and is the fastest head coach in program history to achieve eight career victories.

ABOUT THE HAWKS
  • Head coach Kevin Callahan (Rochestor '77) has been at the helm of the Hawks for 32 seasons with an overall record of 187-148 (.558). 
  • The Hawks enter the matchup 11th in the CAA with their 5-6 (3-4 CAA) record. 
  • Monmouth's offense is currently ranked fourth in the FCS and leads the CAA in scoring. They also lead the CAA and ranks third in the FCS in total offense and has the fifth best passing offense in the FCS and leads in the CAA. 
  • QB Derek Robertson is top three in the FCS and leads the CAA in passing touchdowns, passing yards and passing yards per game. He is also fourth in the FCS and leads the league in total offense. 
  • Sone Ntoh leads the FCS with his 24 rushing touchdowns this season. 
  • Josh Derry leads the CAA and ranks eighth in the FCS with 91.0 receiving yards per game.
