STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook Development Team crowned the School of Social Welfare the winners of the second inaugural Dean's Challenge for the Fall 2024 semester.
Throughout the fall semester, eight different colleges/schools were chosen to participate in the Stony Brook Athletics Dean's Challenge with the intention of building partnerships and bridging the gap between academics on campus and athletics. Each school was given an opportunity to rally fans for football games during the fall season and the school with the greatest attendance was selected as the winner.
The School of Social Welfare received the Dean's Challenge Trophy on Thursday, which they get to keep for the 2024-25 school year and a $250 book scholarship courtesy of the Athletic Department.
"The spirit of SSW was evident at this year's game. Participating in the Dean's Challenge for the second year in a row was an opportunity for expanding and strengthening a sense of community, connection and belonging. With more than 300 guests, the SSW community, including our agency partners who supervise our student interns, brought their sense of pride, friendly sense of competition and enthusiastic spirit," Jennifer Davidson, SSW Communications, said. "Working with the Stony Brook Student-Athlete Development team was a great learning experience. We had the opportunity to learn about the work that they do each day to support student-athletes."
