STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Freshman standout Sebastian Regis has made an immediate impact in his debut season with the Seawolves. The Long Island native earned Third Team Freshman All-American honors from Phil Steele College Football Yearbook.

Regis is one of only nine Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) players selected to an All-American defensive team this season. He becomes the first Seawolf to receive Freshman All-American recognition from the publication since Tyler King in 2021.

Appearing in all 12 games during Stony Brook's remarkable turnaround season, Regis led all team newcomers in key defensive categories, recording 18 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and one sack. The freshman also made a tackle in 10 of 12 games, including 11 of his 18 total tackles at LaValle Stadium.

Regis was instrumental in the defensive unit's significant improvement this season. The Seawolves allowed just 24.0 points per game, a stark reduction from 39.2 points in 2023. Additionally, they limited opponents to 373.5 yards per game, down from 470.7 yards, and conceded only 32 touchdowns, compared to 53 last season.

The freshman's highlight moments included his first collegiate game against Marshall, where he recorded his first collegiate tackle. Regis played a pivotal role in Stony Brook's first victory in nearly two years, contributing three tackles, a sack, and recovering a fumble for a 69-yard return touchdown in the 37-10 win over Stonehill on Sept. 9. He also posted a season-high four tackles, including two for loss, in the Seawolves' contest against No. 5 Villanova on Oct. 5.
